Welcome to my personal website dedicated to the sport of paragliding. Here you will find some of my videos and photos. I hope you enjoy them.

Paragliding is an airsport which uses a wing made of a nylon type fabric. When the wing is filled with air through openings in the leading edge, it forms an aerofoil shape which creates lift. This means a paraglider flies like a normal aircraft and behaves like one. The pilot is suspended by many lines which attach to the bottom of the wing at one end and a piece of webbing called a "riser" at the other. The risers are clipped into the pilot's harness with carabineers. Steering is achieved by "brake" lines which attach to the trailing edge of the wing, pull the left one to go left and vice versa.
Paragliders need either "dynamic" lift or "thermic" lift to stay up otherwise they will descend. Dynamic lift is when the wind hits a solid object and is forced up and over it. Hills and ridges provide this lift as the air rising up the side of them is what paragliders fly in. The stronger the wind, the higher they can fly above the hill or ridge. Thermic lift is caused by the sun heating up darker ares of ground quicker then lighter ares. The air above the dark areas heats up quicker than the air surrounding it and eventually rises as a bubble of warmer air. Paragliders can fly into these bubbles and circle to stay in them, they can reach "cloudbase" which is where the thermals condense and form clouds.
Paramotoring is almost the same but uses a motor and propeller unit to provide thrust to gain height so lift isn't needed.
